You can’t control your carbohydrate cravings – but you can learn to crave and not eat

You can’t control your carbohydrate cravings, but what you can do it make it much easier for yourself, when you
have sweet and starch cravings, not to eat them. Picture your favorite carbohydrate in your mind’s eye. Imagine a
Dairy Queen Chocolate Sundae or a Starbuck’s Chocolate Chip Cookie or a bag of Kettle Potato Chips or a
California Pizza Kitchen Margherita Pizza or whatever. Be totally specific. See your craving in your minds eye.
Smell it. Really see it. Make it as real as possible. Now, breathe in relaxation and breathe out tension. Breathe in
relaxation and breathe out tension. Breathe in relaxation and breathe out tension. See yourself looking at your
food, wanting it – and not eating it. Breathe in relaxation and breathe out tension. See yourself wanting your food,
and not eating it. Breath in relaxation, breathe out tension. What you are doing is conditioning tension reduction
associated with not eating a food your are craving. Breathing in relaxation and breathing out tension is a powerful
physical anchor you can use to allow yourself to experience cravings, and not give in to them. Do this exercise
two or three times a day for a week. You are reducing the tension associated with not eating, when you
experience a craving. This allows you to have a cake craving, and not eat it.
