Once you are in ketosis, you will have far fewer carbohydrate cravings, because your body is running on free fatty acids in your bloodstream, as opposed to glucose. When you are in ketosis, you have depleted your liver glycogen (stored starch) supply, so instead of blood sugar, you metabolize free fatty acids. When you are running on fatty acids, you don’t crave carbohydrates as much, because you don’t have wide blood sugar swings. Ketosis accelerates weight loss, if you keep your calories limited, because fat storage is less efficient in ketosis. To lose weight as quickly as medically possible, get into ketosis and stay there, and keep your calories under 1500 a day. You’ll melt.
