Weight watching groups don’t work – the average victim weighs more when they quit

I love the fact that weight loss support groups just don’t work. When one of the largest weight watching support
group in the country was studied, they actually had a negative success rate. The average victim weighed more
when they quit than when they joined. All makes sense to me, as overweight is a medical problem, and weight
loss support groups are run by business people. Year ago, when another of the largest corporate weight
watching groups was aold, the food was sold to one corporate entity and the weight watching classes was sold
to another corporation. 20 years later, one corporation bought both entities, and now the weight watching
meetings just basically upsell the foods. Patients also learn bad habits from other group participants at these
meetings, which can take on church-like confessional intensity. Emotion all over the place. Lots of sound and
fury, but it does nothing to help you lose weight.
