The Steak and Tomato Diet – from Liberty Magazine and The Saturday Evening Post

The Steak and Tomato Diet first appeared in Liberty Magazine around 1944, and then later in the Saturday
Evening Post. It’s another high protein, very low calorie diet. You have 4 tomatoes and 1 pound of steak a day.
You can have 5-6 ounces of steak for breakfast and for lunch and for dinner, with 1 tomato at breakfast, 1
tomato at lunch and 2 tomatoes at dinner. Or have 2 tomatoes at breakfast (skip your steak), and have 8 ounces
of steak with 1 tomato for lunch and 8 ounces of steak with 1 tomato for dinner. You can also have 1 cup of a
vegetable, once a day. Your vegetable can be 1 cup of broccoli or spinach or zucchini or green beans or wax
beans or asparagus. This very low calorie diet is usually good a weight loss of a half pound to one pound a day.
Make sure you drink at least a gallon (128 ounces) of non caloric fluid a day on this (and every) weight loss
program.
