The Cottage Cheese Blitz first appeared in Ruth West’s 1957 book, “Stop Dieting, Start Losing”. The book is
still available on Amazon and eBay. The Cottage Cheese Blitz has been around forever, and is a favorite way for
many patients to drop a quick 5 pounds in 2-3 days. This is a 500 calorie diet, meaning it is a very low calorie
program. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are the same each day. You eat 1 cup of fat free cottage cheese, 1 fruit or
1 vegetable, and 2 crackers. Your fruit can be 1 tangerine or 1/4 fresh pineapple or 2 apricots or 2 prunes or 1/2
cup berries or 1/2 canteloupe or 1/2 grapefruit or 1 orange. Your vegetable can be as big a serving as you want
of green peppers, cucumbers, scallions, celery and lettuce. Or you can have 1 tomato or 1 carrot. Your 2
crackers can be Saltines, Melba Toast, Rye Thins or Wheat Thins. You can spread a thin layer of suger-free jelly
on your crackers, and you can add nutmeg or cinnamon or chives or pepper and herbs to your cottage cheese.
