Portion control for dummies

Portion control is the key to both low carbohydrate weight loss and low carb maintenance. If you leave off the butter or oil, you can eat as much and many low carb vegetables as you want (any vegetable you want, except peas, potatoes or corn), and lose or not gain weight. But you have to limit your dead animule intake to both lose and maintain. If you want to lose weight slowly (3-5 pounds a week) but mindlessly, limit yourself to 2 pounds of meat a day. For the most reasonable and efficient weight loss, 1.5 pounds of meat a day is better. If you are in a real hurry, try to limit yourself to one pound of meat a day if you can, but don’t make yourself too crazy about this number. If you want to maintain weight mindlessly, you can probably eat up to 3 pounds of dead animule a day, especially if you take it real easy on, or eliminate butter and oil on veggies. Remember, it’s almost impossible to lose weight eating nuts and cheese, and these two food make maintenance way too hard too. If you are going to eat nuts and cheese, limit yourself to these problem children just one day a week, or you’re asking for trouble.
