One of the best ways to follow a low carbohydrate diet (5-10 grams of carbohydrate per feeding), is to alternate 500 calorie days with 1500-2000 calorie days. This way you won’t feel anywhere near as deprived. For example, on your 500 calorie day, you can have one McDonald’s Double Quarter Pounder (no bun, no cheese). On your 1500-2000 calorie day, you can have 3 or 4 McDonald’s Double Quarter Pounders (no bun, no cheese). On your 500 calorie day, you can have half a Boston Market chicken, without the skin. On your 1500-2000 calorie day, you can have 1 or 2 Boston Market chickens, with the skin if you like. You can lose 3-5 pounds every week this way.
