Nuts and cheese – stop low carb diets from working

What keeps low carb diets from working is too many calories, and the usual culprits are cheese and nuts. You
just cannot eat 3000 plus calories a day and lose weight. Peanut butter doesn’t work either. Nuts are actually a
double whammy, as they contain both way too many calories and way too much carbohydrate. That 3 or 4
ounce bag of nuts that you get at Starbucks or the gas station, has 500-600 calories and 15-20 grams of
carbohydrate. It doesn’t matter what kind of nuts – almonds, cashews, peanuts, etc. You basically can’t eat nuts
or nut butter and lose weight. Cheese at 100 plus calories an ounce is another nightmare. I’ve had hundreds of
patients who were not losing weight, until I got them off cheese completely, or limited cheese to 2 slices a day. 2
large slices of swiss cheese from the Kraft package can have a total of 300 plus calories. You just can’t eat the
topping of a pizza or the insides of a quiche and expect to lose weight. You are taking in thousands of calories.
Just doesn’t work.
