The Cat Food Diet is my favorite quick weight loss diet, because it is the most structured, with guaranteed portion control (calorie limits) built in. You absolutely, positively cannot freely feed on a very low carbohydrate diet, because the bet is you won’t lose any weight. You have to find a way to limit calories at the same time you are “freely feeding” on low carb. The can limit on my Cat Food Diet guarantees portion control. You can do the same thing by limiting yourself to 8 quarter pound hamburgers (200 calories each, 1600 calories, no buns) a day. Or limit yourself to 2 one pound steaks, about the same 1600 calories. Or limit yourself to a package of hot dogs, also the same 1600 calories. Or limit yourself to a dozen eggs, also about 1600 calories cooked in lots of butter.
