There’s probably not a significant caloric advantage to following a low carb diet over a low calorie diet. If you
look at the biochemistry, there’s not much science suggesting that calories don’t count. What counts though is fat
storage, and carbohydrates make it easier for your body to store fat. What also counts is your hunger and
cravings, and carbohydrates also tend you make you more hungry and crave more carbohydrates. The more
carbohydrates you eat, the hungrier you will be, and the more carbohydrates you will crave – because eating
carbohydrates stimulates insulin release, which in addition to causing fat storage makes you hungry and crave
sweets and starches. What counts most though, is your ability to stay on your diet and not give in to feeding
frenzy (hunger) and sweet and starch cravings. The lower your carbohydrate intake, the less hungry you will be,
and the fewer carbohydrate cravings you will experience.
