How to keep low carb calories under control

A trick that can help you lose weight and keep calories from going to stupid on a low carb diet, is to only add fat
(butter, olive oil, mayonnaise, salad dressing) to meat, fish or fowl – not to veggies. Ideally, 65-75% of your
daily calories should be from fat, 25-35% from protein for fastest weight loss. The problem is that calories count
somewhat, and by adding butter or oil to veggies, you take your calories to insanity way too fast. If you are
eating much more than 1500 calories a day, you are probably not going to lose weight quickly enough to stay on
a low carb diet. By adding butter to broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, spinach, etc. – it’s way too easy to
go way over the 1500 limit. This is the reason it’s important to limit cheese to 400 calories (4 slices or 4 ounces
a day – 2 slices a day is better) on a low carb diet. Low carb calories can go into the stratosphere way too
rapidly. Nuts are even worse, because they contain even more calories than cheese, and enough carbohydrate
to stop weight loss – so no nuts.
