You have to starve in order to lose weight. If you’re not starving, you’re not burning body fat, so you’re not losing weight. Eating 3000 calories a day is a lot more fun than eating 1000 calories a day. The feel great, lots of energy, weight loss diet doesn’t exist. You’re going to have to be hungry in order to lose weight. And you’re not going to feel as well when you are dieting, as when you are gorging. Food is fun. If you are going to lose weight, you can’t have as much fun. Freely feeding diets (whether low carb or low fat) don’t work, because the bet is you’re going to freely feed on way too many calories to lose weight. I’m a big fan of 500 calories every other day, whether you’re on a low carb or a low calorie diet. By limiting yourself to 500 calories every other day, you can pretty much guarantee weight loss, as long as you are not totally binging on the days in between.
