If you limit your calories to 500-600 a day, it doesn’t matter what you eat, and you can lose weight. The
problem is that if you are eating 500 calories Pop Tarts, you’re going to feel lousy. On 500-600 calories a day,
your liver glycogen supply is depleted, so you live off store fat. So, if your calories are low enough, you can lose
weight on Pop Tarts. But on 1000 calories of protein and fat a day, you’ll lose twice as fast as on 1000 calories
of carbohydrate. You can eat what you want if you keep your calories low enough, 500-600 a day. The problem is on the Mrs. Fields diet, you’re going to feel lousy, real lousy.
