High Intensity Training (HIT) works by lowering your insulin level, increasing your VO2 max, and stimulating the release of cortisol. When you exercise large muscle groups to exhaustion, you deplete muscle glycogen and create a demand for ATP for energy, and stimulate the release of cortisol. In English, if I can convince you to do 3 twenty second exertions of HIT a day – you will be less hungry, experience fewer carbohydrate cravings, and be far better able to follow your low calorie, low carbohydrate diet.
