What’s wrong with the 17 Day Diet

I hate it when people who don’t treat weight loss patients write diet books. They get way too much of the important stuff wrong. The 17 Day Diet claims to be a 1200 calorie diet, but if you do the math, it’s way over 1200 calories – and there’s way to much carbohydrate for fast weight loss. The 17 Day Diet has you eat every day for 17 days – unlimited lean protein, unlimited non-starchy vegetables, 2 low-sugar fruits, 2 low-fat yogurts, 1-2 tablespoons olive oil. Unlimited lean protein translates to 1200 – 1500 calories for most patients. Unlimited non-starchy vegetables add another 200-300 calories. 2 low-sugar fruits add 150-200 calories. 2 low-fat yogurts add another 200 calories. 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil add 100-200 calories. This is 2400 calorie and 40 grams of carbohydrate diet. Way too many calories and carbs for you to lose weight quickly enough to stay on the diet.
