The only 2 maintenance programs that work are (1) Dead animules and veggies Monday through Friday, eat what you want on Saturday or on Sunday or on both days. 50% of patients can eat what they want 1 day a week and maintain. 50% of patients can take both days off and maintain. OR (2) 500 calories, every other day. The easiest way to do this is mostly veggeis on your 500 calorie day. That’s it. It’s really that simple, because nothing else really works for maintenance for most patients. Calories quickly go to stupid on low carb maintenance, and low calorie maintenance has the added problem of facilitating fat storage (because of full carbohydrate intake), in addition to the stupid calories problem. There’s no other way to maintain, for most patients. Exercise helps maintenance, but it’s not enough. You have to come up with a strategy that limits calories or carbohydrates or both.
