I want to re-inforce the purpose of these 1000 calorie, low carb diets that I’ve been blogging about. Most patients lose their first 20-30 pounds by simply restricting carbohydrate to 10-20 grams per feeding, 2-3 feedings per day. Most patients don’t have to count calories or pay close attention to how much they eat, in order to lose their first 20-30 pounds. To lose beyond this though, in addition to continuing to restrict carbohydrates, most patients also have to restrict calories. The magic number for weight loss beyond 20-30 pounds is usually less than 1000 calories a day. My favorite way to restrict calories to 1000 a day is my Cat Food Diet on billnagler.com and dietresults.com. It’s way too easy to get your calories over 1000 on my Walk, Swim or Fly Diet, unless you pay attention to how much you are eating.
