All of my 1000 calorie, low carb diets are about one thing – structure. You need to structure your intake, if you are going to lose weight. You need to find a way to keep your calories under 1000 (600-800 is better), and you need to find a way to limit your carbohydrates to 10-20 grams per feeding (5-10 grams is better). All of the low carb diet books on the market lie. You absolutely, positively cannot eat as much as you want on a very low carb diet, and expect to lose weight. I live on a very low carb diet for maintenance, and if I ate as much as I wanted, I’d gain a couple of pounds every week.
