Very low fat, ketogenic, high protein diets, like Dukan or Stillman, work for the short run, but not for the long run. Very low fat, high protein diets are almost impossible to stay on for more than a few weeks, because of fatigue, listlessness, and sweet and starch cravings. By adding the fat that has been removed from low fat, high protein, low carb diets, you can improve your compliance, well being, and weight loss – because you’ll feel better, and are less likely to cheat and binge on carbohydrates. The same fatigue, listlessness, cravings and binging happen to patients on Pritkin and McDougall, which are very low fat, carbohydrate rich diets. When you stop eating fat, the bet is you are not going to lose weight.
