Fruit is a mixed bag for low carb dieters

I keep going back to fruit, because as much as I hate the fact that fruit can cause more fat storage than simple carbohydrate, because your body produces twice as much alpha glycerol phosphate from fruit than from simple carbs – you need to keep your eye on the war, not the battle. In the long run, fruit helps some patients do better on a low carbohydrate diet, by decreasing cheating on flour products and dairy products. For some patients, the best thing to do is to add up to 2 pounds of fruit, once a day, to eliminate cheating. Other patients feel dreadful and do dreadful when they add fruit, as fruit can trigger hunger and binging. Fruit slows down weight loss, but if it stops you cheating on bread and ice cream, take the slow down.
