Limiting fat calories on your maintenance (off your low carb diet) days can really help damage control. If you are eating bread or bagels, use fat-free cream cheese, jam, jelly or fat-free butter substitutes. More than half the calories of a bagel with cream cheese or butter, often come from the cream cheese or butter. You can even find reduced fat peanut butter substitutes, with less than half the calories of peanut butter. Fat-free cheese often has 25% of the calories of full-fat cheese. The other trick is to keep your sugar intake down to a dull roar. Sugared foods are notorious for their caloric wallop. Low fat sugar-free ice cream can have less than half the calories of the full-fat sugared stuff.
