I put the first half of my Cognitive Defusion for carbohydrate cravings on Youtube. Cognitive Defusion is the psychological technique that allows you to have carbohydrate cravings, and yet stay on a low carbohydrate diet without cheating. Head over to Youtube, search Bill Nagler, and you’ll find the exercises. Tug of War with the Carbohydrate Monster, Carbs on a Cloud, and Carbs on a Stream are the classics. Cognitive Defusion is part of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), the third wave of cognitive behavioral therapy. ACT works well for patients with chronic pain, and very well for carbohydrate cravings. Do a Defusion that appeals to you twice a day, and you’ll be surprised how easy it is to stay on a low carbohydrate diet without cheating. More Cognitive Defusion will follow – on this blog, and on Youtube.
