If you like fish and shellfish, or you don’t hate fish and shellfish, you can lose 3-5 pounds every week on fish and shellfish. One advantage of this diet is that you can eat (within reason) as much fish and shellfish as you want, up to 2 pounds a day. This is because fish and shellfish contain 20-30 calories per ounce, compared to 50-60 calories per ounce for beef and pork. Another advantage is that you can eat (within reason) unlimited vegetables on this diet, anything you like, except peas, potatoes and corn. Weight loss on fish and shellfish can be almost twice as fast as on other protein based diets, and the omega3 oils in salmon are also good for you. If you weight loss is stalled, try a week on salmon, tuna, sardines, halibut, whitefish, cod, haddock, shrimp, lobster, crab, clams, mussels, etc. You’ll be surprised how quickly you can lose, how full you are and how good you feel.
