80% of your calories are eaten the first and the last 5 minutes of your meal. The bread basket, appetizers and
desserts are caloric nightmares. The average bread basket contains over 1200 calories, not counting the 50
calorie per pat butter you put on the bread. Appetizers are almost as bad. A bowl of clam chowder usually
contains at least 600 caloires. An order of Buffalo chicken wings is usually over 800 calories. A bowl of French
onion soup with cheese and croutons can have more than 1000 calories. Desserts are even worse. An oatmeal
cookie or a chocolate chip cookie (from Starbucks no less) are about 500 calories each. If you get your cookies
at Barnes and Noble, make that 600 calories. Most large sundaes clock in about 800 calories. Carrot cake at
the Cheesecake Factory is 1500 calories a slice. It’s true even at McDonalds. You have a 220 calorie chicken
salad for lunch and you’re fine. If you have Cinnamon Melts for dessert, you’ve just added another 460 calories,
more than twice the calories in your entree.
