Weight loss counseling is useless for most patients, usually far more harmful than helpful. One of my favorite studies compared treating psychiatric patients with medication alone, or with medication and counseling. Medication alone worked better. The same thing is true for weight loss for most. If your diet medication is right, you won’t be hungry and you won’t have cravings. You have to make the decision to follow a diet. I can’t make that decision for you, and all the rah-rah counseling in the world also can’t make that decision for you. 3000 calories a day is a lot more fun than 1500. In order to lose weight, make the decision fo follow a diet. Talking about it doesn’t help.
