You can maintain you weight eating about 50 grams of carbohydrate a day, if you don’t go crazy with your fat
and protein calories. By don’t go crazy, I mean by keeping your fat and protein calories under about 3000 a
day. 3200 calories is a ton of food. Carbohydrate and protein have 4 calories per gram, fat has 8 calories per
gram – so your 50 grams of carbohydrate is 200 calories. 50 grams of carbohydrate is about 3 pieces of bread,
or 3 pieces of fruit, or 3 candy bars. The interesting thing about carbohydrate foods, is unless you get stupid, the
average serving of carbohydrate is 15-20 grams. A piece of fruit (an apple, an orange, a handful of grapes or a
handful of cherries) is 15-20 grams of carbohydrate. A slice of bread or a small handful of crackers if 15-20
grams of carbohydrate. A candy bar is about 15-20 grams of carbohydrate.
