More diet books

Other diet books that I like are Gary Taubes’s Good Calories, Bad Calories and Why We Get Fat. Taubes’s books are very motivating and help reinforce a low carbohydrate intake. I also like flipping through the Eat This, Not That series – not for the diet recommendations (they recommend a low calorie, low fat diet – doesn’t work, don’t try it), but to reinforce the caloric nightmare dished out daily by American restaurant chains. IHOP doesn’t sell an omelet with less than 1200 calories. That pecan roll at Cinnabun is 780 calories. Carrot Cake at the Cheesecake Factory is 1500 calories a slice. Ribs a Outback are 3000 calories a slab. Lots of 2000 calorie milkshakes at Baskin Robbins, Coldstone and Dairy Queen.
