Controlling your cravings

Controlling your cravings

If you can’t control your cravings, you probably are not going to be able to stay on your diet. The problem is that you can’t really control your cravings. Your carbohydrate cravings are automatic, something that happens to you, in response to internal (biochemical and autonomic) and external (sights and smells) stimuli. Cinnabum and Snickers are not going to stop advertising, and Dairy Queen is not going to stop selling ice cream cones you see on the street. So you can’t really control your cravings. But what you can control is your eating. Eating is not automatic. Eating is not something that happens to you. Eating is a physical act. You can stop putting food in your mouth.
